Big test for South Bank contingent

BOWLERS from across the area will be well-represented at the Humberside County Indoor Finals this weekend.

A number of South Bank players will be hoping to become county champion – and win a place in the EBF National Finals at Newark in April.

The county finals will be held at Scunthorpe Indoor Bowls Club on Sunday and play begins at 10am, continuing through the afternoon. Spectators are welcome.

The event will be a big challenge for the Hutchinson husband and wife duo of Steve and Julie, as separately and together they feature in no fewer than five finals matches.

In the Mixed Pairs, they face strong opposition from Eva Dayes and Rob Barker.

Also together in the Mixed Rinks, Steve and Julie are joined by Bill Horsewood, to take on Eva Dayes, Dave Baitson and Ted Morton from North Cave.

In the Women's Rinks, Julie, Maureen Featherstone and Zoe Hewitt will come up against north bank rivals Sylvia Neville, Eva Dayes and Lesley Saunders.

In the showcase singles matches, Steve Danby plays Keith Barker, while the Women's Singles final is contested between Millie Walmsley from South Cave and Barbara Thompson of Immingham Blossom Way.
