Home test for Louth

Friday, September 04, 2009, 06:30

THIRD-PLACED Louth entertain Nettleham in the Lincolnshire ECB Premier League tomorrow.

The Lincoln side have experienced a spectacular slide down the table in recent weeks and, while they look safe from relegation, will want to pick up points to end the season in a higher position.

Grimsby Town CC have hung on to fourth place, despite last weekend's defeat, and now face the challenge of Market Deeping, who come to Augusta Street knowing that a win could propel them back into the top half of the table.

Skegness will be looking for maximum points from their last three matches to keep up their challenge for the title.

Should they achieve this, Bracebridge Heath need to pick up 32 points from their three games to be sure of the championship.

The leaders would hope to bag 20 of these when they play bottom team Caistor at Brigg Road, while Skegness will be facing a tougher challenge from Woodhall Spa.

The excellent pitch at Jubilee Park will suit batsmen on both sides, but the home team could have the edge if Andrew Crook and Warren Nel get going, while new signing Sean McCabe will provide a challenge for Skegness in the bowling department.

Messingham, who occupy a relegation slot, are away at Sleaford who have finally hauled their way into the top six.

And above Sleaford in fifth are Lindum who play at Abbey Lawn where Bourne will want to end their somewhat erratic season with a couple of victories.
