Teams aiming to sign off in style

THIS weekend sees the curtain finally come down on a long and exciting Lincolnshire County Cricket League season, with some issues still to be resolved at the eleventh hour.

Five months after the programme began in mid-April, more than half the league's 50 teams see action over the closing weekend.

In the Premier Division, the championship and runners-up spots were decided last weekend.

Alford – already relegated – host Barton Town, who are vying with Bracebridge Heath 2nds to see who finishes seventh and eighth.

In Division One, Paul Hewstone's Cleethorpes 3rds will be able to relax and take in the sea air at Chichester Road where they entertain mid-table Outcasts, having already secured the championship.

Meanwhile, at West Halton Lane, already relegated Alkborough 2nds entertain Holton-le-Clay, who have finished just clear of the drop zone, despite tomorrow's result.

In Division Two, champions Louth 2nds will be keen to sign off in style at Market Rasen.

Already-promoted Hykeham will be looking to do likewise away to Cleethorpes 4ths.

Owmby entertain third-in-the-table Caistor 2nds.

The Division Three championship will be resolved tomorrow, with Gary Mann's second-placed Haxey 2nds needing eight points from their trip to Cherry Willingham 2nds to clinch the trophy ahead of Ian Fletcher's Outcasts 2nds, who have already finished their season.

The only other match in this section is at Marsh Lane, where Barton Town 2nds entertain a Keelby 2nds line-up returning to the basement section for 2010.

The second automatic promotion place in Division Four will be decided over the weekend.

Tomorrow sees South Kelsey 2nds, who are second, looking to beat Hykeham 2nds – and gain as many points as they can. However, third-in-the-table Stamford Homes look to have destiny in their own hands on Sunday when they journey to Alford 2nds, hoping to pip Kelsey at the post.
