Everyone Active go goal crazy against Fizz

Wednesday, November 18, 2009, 06:30

A DEPLETED Everyone Active fought out a 7-4 victory over a battling Fizz in the ABP Grimsby Saturday Football League at a windswept King George V Stadium.

Everyone Active had six regulars missing, including joint top-scorer and new father J Langley, but were boosted by the return of fellow top-scorer P Joswiak.

Mawer, Bailey, Adams and Winter all came in for starts.

They were rocked when Fizz, from the kick-off, raced through the middle before unleashing a 30-yard shot into the roof of the net.

This was the start of a frantic first 20 minutes as a wind-assisted Everyone Active scored four goals.

The first came from captain Parish, followed by strikes from Joswiak and Mawer. Joswiak then stuck again for 4-1.

Fizz kept probing the Everyone Active back-line and were rewarded with a second via their captain, following a great cross from the left.

Everyone Active hit back within minutes as sloppy defending allowed Winter to slot in to make it 5-2.

The second half followed the pattern of the first as Fizz, who were now wind-assisted, lay siege to the Everyone Active goal.

The Fizz captain was involved in everything.

He was rewarded with a goal following a long ball, and nearly made it 5-4 within a minute via a free-kick, but a great save from Bailey kept them at bay.

Fizz cranked up the pressure and got another goal for 5-4.

However, they let their guard down within minutes as Walton wove through to restore the two-goal cushion at 6-4, and as Fizz pressed still, Winter sealed the game on the break late on for 7-4.

Elsewhere in the league, AS Motors entertained title-chasing Caistor at Holton-le-Clay Cricket Club.

Within 15 minutes, Caistor were 2-0 up and Motors had to chase the game.

Motors did get back into the game and went into half-time level.

However, Caistor soon took the lead again.

It was a game full of mistakes as each time Motors equalised, Caistor hit back.

Ultimately, the final score was 6-5 in Caistor's favour.

Aaron Watson scored four of Motors' five goals.

Referee Trevor Albery and his assistants performed well.
