Louth Reserves face tough Sleaford test

Tuesday, December 08, 2009, 06:30

LOUTH Town Reserves face Sleaford Town Reserves in an exciting fourth versus second Sills and Betteridge Lincolnshire League clash on Saturday at Eslaforde Park Ground.

Louth came out on top when the two club's first teams clashed recently in the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy, but Colin Trestrail's men will expect a difficult battle against a Sleaford Reserves team who have only lost once at home this season.

But Louth are in good form, having subjected Heckington United to their heaviest away defeat – by five goals – in their last league game.

Indeed, the reserves were in a rampant mood at Park Avenue, with Terry Ramsden and Danny Kilmore both netting twice and Josh Bartlett added another.

Heckington United will look to bounce back from that defeat when they host Grimsby Borough Reserves in a rearranged fixture.

Borough go into the game on the back of a nine-goal mauling at home to Skellingthorpe PFC. Ashley McKinstry scored a hat-trick and there were also goals apiece from Sam Gordon, Shane Beesley, Dean Szendry, Sam Booth, Joshua Raby and an own goal from an unfortunate Borough player.

After a late change to the fixtures, due to postponed Lincolnshire Junior Cup ties taking precedence, leaders Ruston Sports will make the short journey to Skeelingthorpe PFC, while CGB Humbertherm will be looking to avenge their Supplementary Cup exit when they welcome Horncastle Town to their Fulstow ground.

Boston Town Reserves are set to travel to Lincoln United Reserves' Ashby Avenue ground, and Skegness Town will travel to Saltfleetby to take on Louth United. In the Lincolnshire FA Junior Cup, Cleethorpes Town entertain AFC Brumby at Wilton Road, while fellow Sills and Betteridge Lincolnshire League sides Harvest and Hykeham Town cross swords at the Novartis Sports Ground.
