Well it is certainly a bold move - and there are definitely signs that the youth system is bearing some very worthy fruit. But is it bearing enough talent to have a go at promotion next season? Or is next season merely about consolidating? If it is the latter then that's as good as telling some of the nearly fans not to bother with that season ticket they were thinking about. I am all for youth coming through - they are the life and future of selling clubs. But i have to agree with one readers comments that we need to unearth more Futchers and Birtles to help bring the young lads through. We are also missing "never say die" players of the Cunnington, Cockerill mould. Poor old Paul Bolland cannot carry on being the only leader on the pitch. I also see from others comments that there won't be any cash to spend - do we know where the £500,000 Wembley money is going? Can't any be freed up to support AB in the transfer market? UP THE MARINERS!!! |

Can't beleive he's getting rid of fenton and toner. it can't be because of their abilities coz they're both useful league 2 players. its either their wages are too high or they've had the audacity to question buckley the almightys tactics. Will somebody tell fenty that you don't get promotion or success on the cheap. if he wants football as a hobby with little layout he should've taken over a sunday league side on bradley. if he wants success and profits then what's that old saying? speculate to accumalate? mediocrity once more beckons. we're the laughing stock of the county if not the league. |

What he will need is funds to be used on players wages. Fenty needs to make the necessary funds available to AB so that we can punch above our weight wage wise if we want a realistic chance of automatic promotion next season. We are looking pretty bare at the moment, especially with the departure of fenton and toner, but i believe AB must have potential signings in mind & maybe even verbal agreements that they will becoming mariners in the near future. Heres a few names that i find appealing.. stewart fleetwood , michael bridges , michael boulding , darren huckerby , ben wilkinson |

I think the town need people that want to play for the town and that is very few. We need to look at local lads plenty round here playing that get fed up when they don't make it as there is nothing for them in the area. We need to either help a local team to a good standard or look at players aroud. Naming one Mike Armstrong players for Louth looks great everytime I see him play if its for Louth or sunday league, always in the paper more so then town players must be doing something rite. A few at Grimsby borough, two weeks trail for these local boys would cost the club next to nothing with no signing fees. No one wants to come to a dead end club. We need to help local lads and local teams. We can be a great club we just need to help each other. |

Unless Fenty makes funds available for wages so that we can bring quality in we'll still be in this wretch'ed league when we move to the new stadium. Its totally pointless building a new stadium to play at this level.(It really is beyond a joke!)If Fenty had invested at the begining of the season i believe we would have gone up this year.It might take 2-3 seasons to win promotion from league one & going up this year would have given us a fantastic spring board to start building towards that. Surely we have plans layed out on how this can be achieved before we have a new stadium. We should have a 5 year plan layed out on how were going to go about re'establishing ourselves as a championship club & supposing we can achieve that new plans need to be drawn up so that we can build towards playing in the premier league instead of being happy to consolidate season after season (like we did last time we were there). Fenty has had the vision to see that for the club to move forward a new stadium was essential,so why dosn't he have the forsight to see that the team itself needs investment.Maybe Fenty wants to recoup his money, but where does that leave GTFC until that has happened?!If he were in this for the long haul then surely the club making a loss but being successfull is acceptable now that the new stadium is going ahead.Couldn't any investment thats made now be recouped later with high attendances at the new stadium? If Fenty's 5 year plan is to pass the book and recoup his money he should stop talking about how passionate he is about the club & hand over the reins to someone thats totally commited to the future of GTFC. COME ON MR FENTY ITS TIME YOU LITTERALLY UTM |
