Come on people of Grimsby, lets think about why the new stadium is so important.

The only reason Mr Fenty is pursuing the new stadium is to ensure his investment in GTFC is recouped. If he can attract a big sponsor, ie a major retailer then he will fulfill his dream of a new stadium, but watch what will happen, he will recoup his current investment and GTFC will be left in yet another vunerable situation.

Rumour has it if we dont get the new stadium town will fold, i reckon with the new stadium there is more chance town will fold, the only difference is Fenty gets his money back, whats wrong with that I hear you say, nothing good luck to him, but maybe he should look at it from the people of grimsbys perspective instead of a financial gain perspective.

Come on John, forget the stadium, stick at Blundell Park and put your efforts into getting the people of Grimsby on side, not just half of them, I am sure given time all will get behind you and share your vision of a new stadium, but lets see the team secure first.

Lets look at the facts

Why do we need a new stadium when we can't even attract 5000 on a regular basis

How much have GTFC board invested in planning applications and architects for the new stadium, surely if Mr Fenty and his board had the Town at heart and the people that live in the community he could of spent that on saving things like HARA from closing, or investing in local people to help progress the town.

As a football supporter who loves to go to a game with a crackling atmosphere, I see absolutely no point in having a larger stadium with a few supporters huddled in a corner generating a hollow atmosphere which can only discourage new supporters from wanting to turn up again.
Revamp the current stadium but a new larger stadium is a stupid idea, it could be the death knell for the club.

What a bizarre little post. Can I ask why John Fenty shouldn't recoup his investment? Without him we'd have no club and yet you begrudge him the simple cornerstone of capitalism; making a return.

Aside from that, are you truly happy sitting in a delapidated stadium, the newest substantial part of which is nearly thirty years old and the oldest over a century old? Are you not embarassed by the lower league conditions we have to play and sit in? Do you have no ambition for the better things in life?

A new stadium would attract more supporters. Look at attendances at clubs that have relocated - Shrewsbury this season have seen a near three-fold increase in attandance and turnover since moving. A shabby stadium puts people off. Now if you want supporting Town to be a closed shop, to be enjoyed by a hrad-core of supposedly true fans who enjoy sitting in a hovel, then it is you who with your Luddite thinking are doing a disservice to the good people of this town, and not the board.
