Walker, Bennett lose ground

Saturday, March 13, 2010, 06:30

A TRIPLE bogey undermined Sophie Walker's attempts to move up the leaderboard at the Australian Open in Melbourne.

The 25-year-old Humberston player took a seven at the four-par 11th on the way to a 77 for a total 228 (76, 75) in the third round.

She had birdies at the third and 12th and bogeys at the fifth, 15th and 16th to leave her joint 63rd.

Home player Karrie Webb, who won last week's ANZ Masters, takes a one shot lead into tomorrow's final round.

Meanwhile, Grimsby's Stephen Bennett dropped from equal 16th to joint 28th after the second round of the Chang Thailand Seniors Masters in Bangkok.

A second round 74 put him on a total of 142 (69) going into the third and final round.

Boonchu Ruangkit leads on 130 (64, 66) and, like Webb, is going for back-to-back victories.
