Tetney

THE Lincolnshire Wolds are the backdrop for Tetney Golf Course which was built on the coastal plain between hills and sea.
The course is now maturing nicely with the trees adding definition to what is essentially a fairly flat course.
Tetney, with its fine clubhouse and driving range, is an important golfing facility in the area and many players begin their association with the game at the club.
Though it has several hundred keen members, it is also popular with green fee payers offering good value at just £12 for a round of 18 holes on a weekday.
Developed by the Casswell farming family of Fulstow, Tetney was opened in 1994 and has gradually improved as it has matured.
Ponds and dykes are ever-present hazards with the 181-yard par three fourth featuring both.
Saucer greens on some holes also call for accuracy on the approach shots.
Those carrying a good card must be vigilant towards the end of the round for the last three holes are tough.
The 16th is a par three of over 230 yards, the 17th a long par four at around 440 yards while the 18th is a monster.
This uphill par five is, at 607 yards, one of the longest holes in local golf and requires three big shots to reach the green.
