Bore expecting the chance to impress

Friday, October 23, 2009, 06:30

GRIMSBY Town striker Peter Bore says he will do everything he can to remain a part of Grimsby Town's plans this season when the Mariners face League Two leaders Bournemouth tomorrow.

Bore, who won the sponsor's man-of-the-match award after an impressive display in the 2-0 defeat against Rochdale at Blundell Park last Saturday, has been made available for a loan move away from the club alongside Danny North.

After Mike Newell's departure as Town boss, the Youth graduate has the chance to impress his former youth team mentor Neil Woods, who has been installed as the club's caretaker manager.

Despite the disappointment of being made available for loan, Bore said he will continue to try his hardest to put in strong performances whenever and wherever he can to prolong his career in Cleethorpes.

Bore said: "I hope it's not the end at Grimsby. If I have to go away I will try my best to prove a point and then come back and carry on fighting.

"For me, I have just been training exactly the same and trying not to let the situation phase me.

"If I am needed then I am more than happy to fill in, graft and do my best for Grimsby.

"I'm always looking to have an impact, I always want to win and try and give it my all every time I play, so at the moment I'm just focussing on going to Bournemouth and winning."

"We are all determined to get our form up. We are trying to not let the run of defeats affect us and we are all working really hard with our football."

"I've got a point to prove, you always have. You always want to do your best.

"I just want to go out there and do it on a regular basis.

"I don't mind where I play for the team. I will put in the effort all the time and give 100 per cent, so I don't care what position I play – I am always in it for the team."

Bore, who left Town for a loan spell at York last season, said the disappointment of the Rochdale defeat overshadowed reflections on his own bright performance for the Mariners.

His pace and persistence almost gave Town an equaliser to cancel out Adam Rundle's first-half goal for Rochdale when he beat his marker on the right and cut the ball back to Cardiff City loan signing Josh Magennis, who – on his debut – clipped the bar with a right-footed shot from close range.

He said: "It's always nice to get man-of-the-match award, but the team's defeat was a big disappointment..

"I thought we really got at them and had quite a few chances.

"We were unlucky hitting the bar just before they scored the second goal and overall we were very disappointed with the result."
