Motors survive Decorators test

JOHN Roe Toyota came through a tough battle against MJ Decorators to claim a 6-2 victory that keeps them at the top of the Roy Ling Mutual Grimsby Snooker Singles Premier Section.

The Motors continue to edge out Simon Devaney Builders A for the top spot. The Builders also recorded a 6-2 win, against Don Noble Bookmakers.

The Decorators fought hard against the league leaders. Darren Potter took a frame from Paul Metcalf and Dean Richardson did the same against Jamie Richardson. Another frame went down to the black and it was a struggle for Jamie Green and John Parker, although both managed to win two frames.

The Builders shot into a 6-0 lead at Don Noble Bookmakers when Craig Waddingham, Stuart Carrington and Ashley Wright all won 2-0 before Mark Stevens won the last two frames for the Bookies.

LES Engineering thrashed West End A 7-1 when Mark Franks – who topped this week's breaks list with a 79 – Paul Smith and Nige Emmerson all won two and Jonno Webster shared with John Parrott.

The only team to produce a slam were Clee Cons A and this came at the expense of Clee Home Guard B. Steve Bloomfield, Jamie Barrett, Gary Skipworth and Karl Krajnyak were just too strong for the opposition.

Two-nil wins from Alan Edmonds and John Ashford-Smith and singles from Nige Lamming and Paul Bristow against Luke Maddison and John Vickers gave Flor Pro a 6-2 victory at Simon Devaney Builders B.

Westlands B won 5-3 at Hainton A when Tony Aisthorpe and Mick Thornton both won their two frames and Tim Gillin won a single against Keith Atmore.

Ray Hammond won the other two frames for the home team.

Windows Warehouse smashed Ocean Sea Foods (UK) 6-2. Kevin Ashby, John Leyland and Ivan Harvey all won 2-0 in reply to a 2-0 from Kev Cowdroy.

Firemen drew 4-4 with G. S. N. Westlands, in which a 2-0 from Tom Walker was cancelled out by Paul Jackson.

Beertrix Trotters turned on the style with a 7-1 win in Section A when Andy Leworthy, Danny Reynolds and Steve Donner all won 2-0 and Daz Barraclough shared his frames with Ray Charlton who saved the slam for Clee Bowls D.

The Wellow hit Ray Edmonds H for six when Martin Farrell and James Gledhill both won two and Andy Aisthorpe and Mick Ponsonby shared with Dave McCann and Liam Oswin.

After the first six frames were shared, it was a 2-0 from Dan Webster that gave Hainton A a 5-3 victory at Carr Lane E.

Cromwell C surprisingly went down 6-2 at home against Blossom Way A when Bill Altoft, John Lough and Leon Milner all won 2-0 in response to a 2-0 from Terry Burns.

Single set wins from Tony Eglin, Jamal Uddin and Alan Porritt plus a 2-0 from Jeff Dyball gave Clee Bowls A a 5-3 victory against Laceby Manor.

An opening 2-0 from Neil Sutton helped TLC Services defeat Cambridge H 5-3.

Singles for TLC were registered by Shane Robinson, Tony Lamberton and Terry Littlefair.

Two-nil wins from Mark Goss, Martin Dowling and Brian Bridge gave Clee Cons B a 6-2 victory at home against Carr Lane D. Kevin Munson won the two frames for the visitors.

Clee Bowls C felt the might of Laceby RBL A in Section B when they went down 7-1 at home to the leaders.

Ken Payne won the very first frame for the home team but after that it was all one way as Dave Powell, Matt Clayton, Andy Barry and Daz Stansfield won all the rest.

Nats A beat Steve Austwick Garden Services 5-3 when singles from Bob Woodhouse, Mick Sleeth and John Ilbrey were complimented with a 2-0 from Mark Ilbrey.

Clee Bowls B drew 4-4 with Phoenix A when all the players won and lost a frame. The main highlight was a nice 40 break from Keith Board.

Cue World Destroyers beat Ray Edmonds K 6-2 when Craig Roberts and Ryan Knox won the last four frames after Michael Gibney and Karl Knox had shared with Mike Crooks and Marc Phillips.

Darren Hare won the only 2-0 of the night when Standard A won 5-3 at home against Clee Bowls Police.

Two-nil wins from Keith Southwell and Dan Hargraves plus a single from John Stewart gave Stamford Snipers a 5-3 victory against South Bank.

No such luck for Stamford Homes B as they lost 7-1 at Westlands A. Nigel Mumby, Byron Hatfield and Alec Cowie were the 2-0 winners for the Wessies with John Ford picking up the single against Lee Leggett.

All the players won and lost a frame in the 4-4 draw between Ray Edmonds Jubilee and Clark Self Drive. Jim Drury had a 31 break for Jubilee.

Grimsby Police put the cosh to Bargate A in Section Cwhen Gaz Dannatt, Jase Nutting and Ian Dannatt won the first six frames. When Billy Flynn won the seventh frame for the Coppers a slam was on the cards but Mick Harris was having none of that as he won the last frame for Bargate.

Cromwell Comets earned a share of the spoils at Cabbies when after Steve Singleton won two for the home team, Jase Lawton replied for the visitors.

An opening 2-0 from Brian West was cancelled out by a similar effort from Mike Caborn as Millfields came back to earn a 4-4 draw at Birds Eye A.

Two-nil wins from Dave Morley and Rick Gilliatt together with singles from Frank Hadfield and Rick Mazingham against Dave Stewart and Dave Gunn gave T. R. Carpets a 6-2 victory at Cambridge X.

Rich Clubley and Nick Masters both won two and Mark George scored a single as the Unusual Suspects beat Bargate B 5-3.

George Emmitt won a single for Hasbeens against Keith Birkett but that was their lot as 2-0's from Dave Bird, Gareth Jarvis and Steve Metcalf gave Standard Under 40's a 7-1 victory.

Grimsby Fireplace Centre went down 5-3 at Grimsby Police A when Kev Ferguson and George Walters both won 2-0 and Sandy Young won a single.

John Horne won two frames for Healing Legion but Matty Hepton did the same for Road Runners as the teams drew 4-4.

Willow Casa were given a run for their money in Section Dwhen visitors Ramsdens Home Interiors came away with a 4-4 draw.

Steve Cowdroy and John Williamson shared the first four frames with Chris Dunham and Matt McRae before Rick Kirk put the home team 4-2 up. The last two frames were very close but in the end it was Craig Hatfield who won them both for Ramsdens.

Cue World T beat South Bank B 6-2 when Cash Downing and Graham Walker both won 2-0 and Paul Beasley and Andrew Nutting shared with Terry Ironmonger and Matt Paterson.

Shane Newbold, Paul Salisbury and Daz Edwards put the first six frames on the board for Cuedos at Laceby RBL B but Kevin Hull restored some pride for the home team when winning the last two frames.

2-0 wins from Ken Crofts and Gordon Hargraves plus singles from Dave Rushby and Barry Loveday gave Standard B a 6-2 victory at Rock Bottoms. Andrew Hall and Adam Board won the frames for Rocks.

An opening four-frame burst from Eddie Langridge and Mick Bird set Phoenix B up for a 6-2 home win against Cromwell Car Care. Clive Brummitt and Jason Acquorff won singles for the visitors against Keith Haigh and Jim Bird.
