Bennett in Bangkok

Friday, March 12, 2010, 06:30

STEPHEN Bennett will be aiming to bounce back from disappointment in Brunei, with a good performance at the Chang Thailand Senior Masters.

The Waltham Windmill professional tees off in Bangkok today for his first round of the event, following his disqualification from the Aberdeen Brunei Senior Masters last week.

Although Bennett carded an opening round 76 at the first event of the 2010 European Senior Tour season, an incorrect drop at the 17th hole, when he was just one over par, signalled the end of his tournament.

The 50-year-old explained: "Last year the hole in question had a large area of snake-infested undergrowth as a water hazard just short of the green.

"I finished in this from a fairway trap and thought it was a hazard, but it wasn't this year, so it was a lost ball meaning I had to drop another one from where I played from. Instead I took 'point of entry' from where the ball went into the undergrowth."
