Lamyman goes so close

Monday, February 15, 2010, 06:30

LOUTH trainer Sue Lamyman went close to a double at Southwell – with both her horses in action only missing out on first place by a head.

Victory Quest and Miss Christophene – from Lamyman's Ruckland Manor stables – went into their races on the all-weather track in contrasting form on Thursday.

The former had won his previous race at the course a week earlier, while the latter was without a victory for almost a year.

But both went very close.

Victory Quest, a 13/2 shot with Robert Winston on board, just failed to catch Zaffeu in the 3.20 race over two miles, despite finishing strongly.

Miss Christophene, at 14/1, and ridden by Andrew Mullen, was headed in the final furlong by Charging Indian in the 4.50 contest.
