Barrett's home ton helps Clee to win

JAMIE Barrett knocked in his first three-figure break of the season this week as he led Clee Cons B to a 7-1 thrashing of rivals Clee Home Guard in the Premier Section of The Roy Ling Mutual Grimsby Snooker Doubles.

Playing at home and partnering Lee Pawson they were paired against Steve Bloomfield and Ian Sadler and had already won their first frame.

In the second, Barrett potted the first red and went on to make a magnificent break of exactly 100 before missing the last black with a possible 134 available.

Craig Waddingham, Dave Darwent, Brian Bridge and Mark Goss, pictured, added further 2-0's before a last-frame single from visitors Fred Parker and Keith Southwell against Danny Rock and Jon Steel saved the whitewash for the Guardsmen.

Hainton A move into second place following a similar result at home against Clee Cons A.

Once again, it was a straight six from Chris Taylor, Shane Newbold, Tony Lamberton, Tim Seddon, Dave Bartlett and Dave Cox before Craig Thomas and Rick Gough saved the slam for the visitors with a single against Mark Steer and Rob Broughton.

Another team to win 7-1 were Cue World Hotshots against AMS (UK) and their 2-0 winners were Ryan Milson, Richard Smith, Bobby Lewsam, Stuart Swinburn, Daz Barraclough and Craig Roberts.

Stuart Powell and Phil Spillman were the frame winners for the Solutions team with a single against Jack Stinson and Ross Milson.

West End A went down 6-2 at home against Blossom Way A when Ashley Jackson, Anthony Hepton, Paul Simpson and Tony Parkin all won 2-0 and Kent Phillips, Kev Gowing, Keith Pulford and Norman Cochrane shared with Cliff Goldsack, Euan Hunter, Martin Shaw and Andrew Warner.

An opening four-frame salvo from Paul Beasley, Stan Moore, Steve Donner and Graham Walker led Westlands to a 6-2 victory at Stamford Homes A in Section A.

John Baker, Bill Richardson, Mel Pratt and Daz Braithwaite won the two for the home team against Simon Redgraves, Dave Gunn Jnr, Tom Jackson and Dave Gunn Snr.

Cromwell started out in similar vein when Ian Taylor, Graham Boddy, Sid Bird and Roy Wilson Jnr won the first four frames for them at home against Birds Eye.

They could only manage one more though as Scott Templeman and Paul Rushby won two for the visitors and Pete Hall and Mick Whyte shared with match winners Mick Jones and Roy Wilson Jnr.

Blossom Way B trounced Healing Legion A 7-1 when Alex Burnett, Lee Richardson, Brian O'Bee, Myles Kennan and John and Albert Potterton all won 2-0 in reply to a single from Mike Crooks and Pete Krofchak against John Lough and Adie Markham.

West End B kept up their good work in Section B after hitting Standard A for six.

Dave Page, Byron Simpson, Alan Porritt and Mike Needham were their 2-0 winners with Walt Simpson, Jim Webster, Dave Sargent and Tony Pearce scoring singles against Barry Loveday, Gordon Hargraves, Tony Eglin and Jack Bradshaw.

An opening 2-0 from Andy McArthur and Ken Ward and singles from Mick Dobson, Keith Atmore, Dave Tanner, Dave Boyington, George Clark and Dave Moody gave Hainton B a 5-3 victory at Clee Bowls B.

Cue World join the Hainton team in second spot after seeing off Healing Mens 7-1 in the village.

Neil Wherrett, Cameron Dunlop, Clive Jenkins, Graham Frosdick, Mark Genney and Tony Robinson were their 2-0 winners with Dave Dobbs and George Marshall getting a single against home players Bill Childs and Ray Smith.

Elsewhere, 2-0 wins from Geoff Ford, Jim McLachlan, Dave Cullum and Pete Cullum together with singles from Gil Clarke, Gordon Peck, Neil Batts and Colin Grey gave Carr Lane C a 6-2 at home against Standard C.
