Biography: Last season yielded few positive results for Storey and he did not qualify automatically for a place on the 2006/07 Tour.
However, he was awarded a concessionary place by the WPBSA, having finished just one place outside the top 64. Storey also had a mitigatory plea having suffered from ill health for much of the season.
Storey enjoyed the best season of his career in 2002/03, when he won 28 matches; more than any other player on the Tour.
He reached the last 16 of the World Championship, coming through five qualifying rounds then beating Joe Perry 10-4 at the Crucible.
Storey was denied a quarter-final place at Sheffield, losing 13-7 to John Higgins, but still moved 31 places up the ranking list to No 51.
This was Storey’s second appearance at the Crucible – the first came in 2001 when he lost 10-9 to Joe Swail after leading 9-7.
